What a great week to write our first blog post! A difficult one because between normal every day life, work, family and all the other usual commitments everyone juggles, we have the usual comp week stress! So please forgive me if at points I seem jumbled, I could possibly be trying to write this one in my sleep as that’s the only spare time I have!
Most of us by now know what it means when we have a competition coming up; exited children, extra training sessions, extra demands to practice practice practice when ever the opportunity arises, stressed parents making arrangements for the long day they have ahead, thoughts of pack lunches, alarm clocks going off from 4:30am, the long drive there, the what feels like even longer drive home!
For us as committee we have the added pressures; ordering the wrist bands, handing out said wrist bands, making sure everyone has transport, uniforms - UNIFORMS - these kids grow!! Some like wild plants, so we need to make sure they still fit their uniform, their uniforms need to be pristine, they need to be ready, they need transporting to the comp then afterwards they need washing and sorting ready for the next time! It’s my first year on uniforms and god it’s a job and half on its own!! There’s also the extra training to take on this week for trainers - around already jam packed schedules they still dedicate this extra time to our children and for that we should all be extremely grateful! Thanks Guys!
The really important message in this blog post is that, despite all the things listed above that add those pressures and stresses to us as a troupe, committee and parents, we are all doing it for the same end result and reason. For our children. Those who have done the comp scene before will know already that there’s no feeling like watching your child go out there and do what they love to do, shine the way they shine on that dance floor and have so much pride and belief in them selves.
Remember dancers, all we ask is you try your best, it’s mandatory that you have fun, and we are all always so proud of everything you achieve!!
fab blog post danni! ❤️
